Event Details

The word “Literally” is misused 28% of the time. And its misuse is increasing, its true definition eroding. We need the word - to clarify what we're saying, to ease communication. We need it to show whether we were on fire or performing well, whether we were steer-wrestling or tackling a problem head-on, or whether we have Athlete’s foot or we have a fear of commitment.

Worry not. I'm going to save the word. I am the Literally Tsar. I've catalogued and analysed the misuse, and done various things literally to highlight the ludicrous misuse of the word. I've literally travelled from A to B, literally got my act together, literally taught an old dog new tricks, literally lost my marbles. For this cause, I've literally been to Hell and back.

Price: just £5 on the door. (this online ticket booking bit is free) - and after the £2 or so which covers the bar hire, the rest of the money ALL GOES TO WATER AID*. So come, and donate. They are a wonderful charity - go look them up: http://www.wateraid.org/uk/. I'm running the Snowdonia marathon in aid of Water Aid on 30 October and trying to raise money here: www.justgiving.com/onyourmarksandpauls.

The Literally comedy show is a “documentary comedy” show - the genre invented by the excellent Dave Gorman, and has had some great reviews whether I've performed it up at the Edinburgh Fringe, in London, or down here in sunny Bristol. It also went pretty well down at Ignite Bristol #2 (http://ignitebristol.net/).

Some Reviews:

KATE COPSTICK, THE SCOTSMAN ****

“a lovely hour… Parry is an amiable stage presence, self-deprecating but smart. His mini-travelogue taking him from A to B by tandem was fascinating as well as funny. Parry’s point is a good one, cleverly and humorously made. "

THREE WEEKS – *****

“deadpan but wonderfully affable…… He may literally be one of the best new comedians at this year’s Fringe…. a delightfully original show.”

THE LIST – ****

“smart, dry humour and Viz-style subversive pedantry combine with his Gormanesque tales of an eccentric, unpredictable and far-flung journey just to prove a point.”

SCOTSGAY MAGAZINE ****

“The fact that everything is delivered in a very deadpan, unexcited manner adds significantly to the hilarity. If you want something really entertaining and different, hilarious and thought-provoking, which brings home the ridiculous ways we use language, get along to Paul Parry’s show. Strongly recommended!”

It's a constantly evolving show - so it's the same spine of the show from July, but has lots of new material - including  literally living the life of Riley, keeping up with the Joneses and more.

Also - half prize for morris dancers and bee-keepers.

Because I would love there to be people there literally with bells on, and there's always a lot of buzz about these literally shows.
